Rain, higher temperatures expected this weekend

Currently, it is below freezing in West Chester. However, the temperature is expected to climb into the 50s and possibly even into the 60s this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Today, it will be sunny with a high near 52. The low will drop down to 31.

On Saturday, the high will be near 53 and there is an 80 percent chance of precipitation. The showers are excepted to occur sometime between 1 p.m. and 1 a.m. Saturday night, the low will be around 49.

Then on Sunday, thunderstorms are possible after 11 a.m. and the high will be near 61. The chance of precipitation during the day is 60 percent. The low is expected to fall down to around 38.

Next week, the National Weather Service’s seven-day forecast is predicting highs in the mid-to-upper 40s and lows ranging from the upper 20s to upper 30s.

Accuweather.com, which currently has a 25-day forecast for West Chester, is predicting a mix of slow, sleet and rain with a high of 38 and a low of 27 on Christmas Eve. The Christmas Day forecast is currently, cloudy with a high near 39 and a low around 27.
