Wet day, cold front coming

Jennifer Edwards Baker reports:

You will definitely need an umbrella today with showers and thunderstorms in the forecast as a cold front approaches from the west, bringing cooler and more seasonal temperatures.

Spotty showers will approach Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky from the west between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. and stick around most of the day. There could even be a rumble of thunder this afternoon.

The high temperature will reach 64 degrees by early afternoon before slipping into the upper 50s by 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Monday’s high reached 71, which is just four degrees shy of the record high on that date, set in 1982.

The warm snap is over for now, but temperatures will be up and down over the next week.

By Wednesday afternoon, the mercury will hover in the upper 40s under mostly sunny skies.

Wednesday night will be downright cold with a low plunging to 29.

Temperatures will begin to rebound a bit Thursday with a high of 50.

More rain will return this weekend with highs remaining in the 50s and pushing back into the low 60s by early next week.
