The boys’ and girls’ basketball teams at both Lakota West and Lakota East high schools made The Cincinnati Enquirer’s local coaches’ top 10 poll, which was released Monday.

The Lakota West boys’ program is the highest ranked team among the four, ranking No. 2 in the Division I poll. School district rival Lakota East is ranked No. 7 in the same poll.

Lakota West will begin its season at home next Friday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m. against Talawanda. On the following Friday, Dec. 7, the Firebirds will host No. 4 Middletown at 7:30 p.m. Meanwhile, Lakota East will open at Wilmington next Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Thunderhawks will then visit Lockland Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. before hosting Western Hills Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
On the girls’ side, Lakota West and Lakota East are ranked No. 6 and No. 8, respectively.

Lakota East will tip off its season Saturday at noon against No. 3 McAuley at Cincinnati State. Next week, the Thunderhawks will have its home opener next Wednesday, Nov. 28, against Carroll at 7:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the Firebirds will open at Mount Notre Dame next Monday, Nov. 26, at 7:30 p.m. before having its home opener next Thursday, Nov. 29, against Oak Hills at 7:30 p.m.
