Mike Dyer reports:

Sycamore (9-1), Lakota East (7-3) and Moeller (6-3) were added to the list of locks Friday night in Division I, Region 4, according to area football playoff projections analyst Steve Shuck.

Lakota East gained a significant amount of momentum with computer points with a 33-21 upset of rival Lakota West Friday night. East is ranked No. 8 in The Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll while West is No. 2.

Colerain (10-0), Springboro (10-0), Elder (7-3) and Huber Heights Wayne (7-3) were already locks going into Friday night, Shuck said, but the order of Division I, Region 4 became evident after games played on the final Friday of the regular season.

Colerain, ranked No. 1 in The Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll and No. 9 nationally by USA Today, will be the top seed in Region 4. Springboro is projected to be the No. 2 seed and Lakota East is No. 7. The others are expected to be determined Saturday night.

St. Xavier (6-4) appears to be in at the No. 8 spot, according to Shuck said, so that would set up a probable rematch of St. Xavier-Colerain. The top four seeds host first-round playoff games next week.

In Division II, Region 8, Turpin (10-0), Winton Woods (7-3), Franklin (9-1) and Northwest (8-2) were projected to be assured of playoff berths going into Friday night, Shuck said, and that remained the same.

Mount Healthy (9-1), which defeated Northwest 28-7 to win the Southwest Ohio Conference outright Friday night, is also projected to qualify. Trotwood-Madison and Edgewood also appear to be in.

In Division III, McNicholas (7-3) helped their case for making the postseason with a 29-12 win over Badin but their status remained undetermined as of 11 p.m.

In Division IV, Region 16, Clinton-Massie, Batavia and Fenwick were assured of berths going into Friday because of significant wins last week, Shuck said, and that remained the same.

Norwood (9-1), which won its first league title since 1988 tonight against visiting Western Brown 39-29 Friday night, is also projected to qualify, according to Shuck. Cincinnati Hills Christian Acadmey (9-1) also has projected to qualify.

In Division V, Region 20, Summit Country Day is 10-0 for the first time since the 1985 season and will advance.

Shuck is in his 17th year of compiling Shuck’s Projections, a newsletter that forecasts Southwest Ohio’s high school football playoff possibilities.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association computer points system is based on schools’ divisions, victories and the victories of their opponents.

The final computer points ratings will appear on ohsaa.org on Sunday morning. The regional quarterfinal pairings will be announced around 3 p.m. Sunday.

The Divisions II, IV and VI regional quarterfinal games are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2. The Divisions I, III and V games are scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 3.

The state finals are scheduled for Nov. 30-Dec. 1 in Stark County. The last time the state finals started in November was 2008, according to the OHSAA. The Board of Directors changed the dates soon after the 2008 state finals so those will always be held the week after Thanksgiving and usually into early December, according to the OHSAA.
