Sue Kiesewetter reports:

A craft fair featuring the work of Kentucky craftsmen will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church this weekend.

The Appalachian craft fair runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, in the Family Life Center gymnasium at the Liberty Township church, 6388 Cincinnati-Dayton Road.

The fair features the work of those enrolled in a craft training program at the Red Bird Mission, located in the eastern Kentucky community of Beverly, one of the poorest regions of the country.

The mission is supported through the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. The Bethany church helps support through its mission committee.

The church also sends a team of volunteers to the mission each year to assist in home and other repairs, said Seth Lindemann, youth minister.

Dr. O. Taylor Collins, executive director of the Red Bird Mission will speak about the mission and its work at Sunday services at 8:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m. (beginning of service) and 10:50 a.m. Any remaining craft items will be on sale from 9 a.m. to noon.
