This summer, Cincinnati Children’s has been airing an advertisement featuring 2011 Lakota West graduate and now Michigan volleyball star Lexi Dannemiller, who went Children’s for rehab on her knees.
Lexi’s mom, Maria, who was also interviewed for the commercial said that there were two production trucks full of equipment and a 12-to-14-person crew at her house for the filming.
“It was pretty intense,” Maria said. “It took about five hours, maybe more.”
Overall, Dannemiller had three surgeries on her knees before her freshman year at Michigan.
The program at Cincinnati Children’s mainly focused on preventing future injuries.
After the program, Dannemiller went on to receive Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week honors four times, was second in the Big Ten in assists and was named to the Big Ten Freshman Team last fall.
“You can describe her as almost a gym rat, but on top of that she is willing to train her body to overcome injuries,” Maria said. “She puts everything she has into it.
“That is who she is. She just basically likes to work hard. I couldn’t put it any other way. She amazes me because I would have given up.”
