West Chester Township will host a Friendship Concert from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 6, as part of the 2012 World Choir Games. The show will take place at The Square at Union Centre and is free to attend.
The concert itself will feature performances from four distinct choirs including the Sakura Ladies Choir and the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Glee Club from Cincinnati, as well as the Abuja Choral Ensemble from Nigeria and the Taichung Chamber Choir from Taipei.
The members of the Abuja Choral Ensemble are all from different backgrounds, but pride themselves on a robust repertoire – ranging from classical to contemporary, indigenous to exotic selections.
Meanwhile, the Taichung Chamber Choir is made up of 21 men and women from Chinese Taipei.
The Sakura Ladies Choir was founded in 1998 with the mission of promoting multiculturalism through music; many of the members are native Japanese or American. Also, the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Glee Club has performed at hundreds of benefits and goodwill events since its creation, usually with popular and traditional Irish songs.
The World Choir Games will take place in Cincinnati July 4-14. More than 20,000 participants from more than 70 countries will compete in 23 categories of music.

The free Friendship Concert will be moved to the Lakota West High School auditorium if it rains. If moved indoors, seating for the concert will be limited.
