A suspicious package discovered Tuesday afternoon at House Speaker John Boehner’s office in West Chester Township turned out to be nothing dangerous, police told The Cincinnati Enquirer.
A Hazmat crew was called to the scene about 3:30 p.m. after a call from a member of Boehner’s staff.
The investigation near a bustling business district on Cincinnati-Dayton Road was wrapped up in less than an hour.
Information on the contents of the package was not immediately available. The Pulse Journal, however, is reporting that it was a letter laced with corn starch.
In August, a bomb squad was called after three suspicious packages were found outside Boehner’s West Chester office.
The three suspicious packages ended up being briefcases filled with only papers, according to township officials. WCPO reported that there were messages on each of the briefcases that included the words “jobs and oil.” WCPO also reported that the bomb squad spent two hours disrupting the packages one-by-one with a robot to ensure the area was safe.
