Lakota Wings Girl Scouts gathered at Donatos in Liberty Township this past weekend to write thank you cards to their servicemen and women for Valentine’s Day.
Girl scouts at all levels, and even a few Moms, channeled their glue, cutting and creative skills to help push toward the goal of more than 500 valentines to support the national program Valentines for Troops.
One local Girl Scout has brought the project to her school Union Elementary in West Chester – asking each of the students to create a valentine. Other girls will be completing more cards at an upcoming lock-in event or troop meeting.
“Girl Scouts is about building girls with character,” shared organizer and Daisy Girl Scout leader Rachel Zipperian. “This is just one way that our girls can understand how important it is to thank others for their service, especially our soldiers who are protecting our freedom.”
The Girl Scouts’ Valentines will be shipped overseas to the troops currently serving on the USS Carl Vinson. DADZ Motor Company, a local custom car shop, is paying for the shipping.
