Lakota West bested its win total from last season when it won game number 11 after defeating Hamilton by the score of 47-42 Saturday. The win is the Firebirds fifth in the last six games.

Lakota West at Lakota East Hamilton almost spoiled the moment by coming back from a 28-9 second quarter deficit. The Big Blue went on a 13-0 run and trailed 43-42 with 22 seconds left in the game.

The Firebirds were able to hang on, thanks in part to four consecutively made free-throw attempts by freshman Lauren Cannatelli. The freshman finished with a team-leading 15 points.

Jillian Spurlock led Hamilton in the loss with 16 points and eight rebounds.

In its next scheduled game, Lakota West will host Notre Dame (Ky.) at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Meanwhile, Hamilton will visit Princeton (15-3 overall, 11-1 in the Greater Miami Conference) at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
