Cincinnati Enquirer’s Sue Kiesewetter reports:
Butler County residents who own dogs have until Jan. 31 to purchase a 2012 license without facing a fee.
New or renewal licenses cost $14 each. They can be purchased online; at the auditor’s office, 130 High Street in Hamilton; at license centers in Fairfield, Hamilton and Middletown; and at most Butler County animal clinics or hospitals.
All dogs aged three months or older are required by law to have a tag.
Beginning Feb. 1, a $14 late fee will be assessed for any renewal registrations. Licenses purchased for new dogs or those brought from out of state, remain at $14.
Those who have lost their dog’s tags can get a new one from the auditor’s office only for a 25 cent fee provided you have the original receipt with the tag number.
A list of the 49 locations throughout the county where dog tags can be purchased is available by going to www.butlercountyauditor.org.
