Lakota West sophomore Ashley Sharp has recently been selected to compete in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase North (QDSN) at Kent State University Jan. 7-8, 2012.
The Queen of Diamonds showcases attract athletes from more than 30 states and two Canadian provinces.
Athletes apply to the Queen of Diamonds individually and are selected based on criteria ranging from ability, potential, academics, graduation year, coaches’ request and referrals. Roughly 264 athletes are selected from more than 2,300 applicants.
Last season, Sharp struck out 72 batters in 47 innings and had a 2.83 earned run average, as well as a 6-2 record. She also had 18 hits in 64 at-bats with a .281 batting average.
