The Lakota East boys’ soccer team advanced to one of the OHSAA Southwest District Division I finals when it defeated Loveland last night, Oct. 25, by the score of 2-1.
The Thunderhawks scored the first goal of the match when senior Dominic Lindeman put in a nicely placed header by senior Phil Rawlins in the first half.
Loveland tied the match before the end of half, making the score 1-1.
Lakota East received the game-winning goal in the 70th minute from senior Patrick Henry, who scored from 30 yards out.
With the win, Lakota East improves its overall record to 12-2-5 and advances to the district final.
In the final, the Thunderhawks will play Moeller, a team Lakota East defeated 1-0 earlier this season.
The match will be played this Thursday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. at Princeton. The winner will advance to the 2010 OHSAA Division I State Soccer Tournament.
In the first round of the state tournament, the winner of the Lakota East vs. Moeller match will play the winner of the Sycamore vs. Springboro match at Lakota West High School Nov. 2.
The Sycamore vs. Springboro match will take place this Thursday at Princeton at 8 p.m.
